In uploading the pictures to make this video I realize that there aren't a lot of pictures and man that year went by fast! I now have another toddler who is quickly learning how to walk.
Stats:
19 lbs 8 oz - 10%
30 inches - 70%
His weight percentile went down despite the fact that I think he eats a TON. I guess I need to be more vigilant about feeding him healthy fats.

Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party
The birthday boy

Caterpillar cake/cupcake

Lucas eats about anything. If he's eating something and notices you eating something different he will throw whatever he's eating and try to grab at what you're eating. He is very vocal when it comes to food. So it seems natural that the theme to his birthday party was the children's popular book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The great thing about the book was that it set the menu for the food. We served all the food (in some form) from the book except the ice cream cone. (That caterpillar sure ate a lot of sweets!) My cousin Nimfa is a preschool teacher and she did an interactive storytime with the kids. Since the party was also the day before Easter we decided to do a small egg hunt. It was a fun time and great to see friends and family to celebrate Lucas' very first birthday. Thanks to others for taking great pictures!
Food! You can see the platter of cheese, salami, and mini sausages and mini cherry cheesecake

Lucas' FIRST Birthday!
Lucas is ONE! Where did the time go? He's a great eater. I hope he continues to be that way. He is a big flirt and he likes to smile to just about anyone. He's going through a bit of a clingy stage right now but if you have food he'll go to you in a second. He is a great napper these days too and some days one of his two naps can last 2 hours. He's such a sweetheart and we love him to pieces. Happy Birthday Lucas!

Soon to be a toddler
How can it be that I was in labor one year ago?
Learning to walk is such a CUUUTE stage. I love watching Lucas try to stand and take a few steps. Not sure exactly when the first unassisted steps were taken but for the past week or so he tries to stand up on his own and walk.

Lucas' first flight
Over the weekend Lucas went on his first airplane flight. Overall I'll give him a 7.5 out of 10 stars. On the flight to LA, I felt like he could not stop fussing. I gave him toy after toy, bottle, pacifier but he basically threw said object after 5 seconds. I find it funny that Jamie thought he did well and I had a different evaluation. Can you guess who was in charge of Lucas during the flight? On the flight home he did a little better. The one thing that occupied him the longest was a slice of apple. I couldn't quite relax because I had to watch his every move in fear that he would bite a chunk off and choke on it.
We both hope he does a little better on the flight to Hawaii in a few months.

Day at the beach
We hung out with some friends at Half Moon Bay yesterday morning. We thought it was going to be a nice day but it turned out to be cloudy and a little drizzly. We sucked it up and stayed for a little while. Caleb was totally not into hanging out at the beach when it was cold and a little windy. He complained the whole time about wanting to go home. Lucas wasn't in too great of a mood either and was really clingy. My friend J snapped a photo of me and the boys. It's a really cute picture of us but when I saw it I couldn't help think of all the events leading up to this picture:
- Lucas only napped for 20 minutes in the car which explains the fussiness
- Arriving at the beach and Caleb needing to pee. He had to use the portable potty I keep in the car for the first time.
- Caleb saying, "I want to go home" about a thousand times
- Both boys stuffing themselves with blueberries and grapes. There was plenty for both of them but they sometimes eat like I'm starving them and they haven't seen food for days.
- Trying to keep Lucas from grabbing grapes. I did not cut them up to a non-choking hazard size for Lucas. But that didn't stop him from trying to stuff one in his mouth.
- Giving in to the fact that Lucas probably ate some sand
- Trying to convince Caleb that it was Lucas' turn to sit on my lap. He refused which is how I ended up with both boys sitting on my lap.

Thinking Chairs
Caleb refers to his chair as his "Thinking Chair" He got that from Blues Clues. I plan on putting these chairs in their playroom.

Fort and Spoon
This evening Jamie and Caleb were building a fort. They used pillows and laid them on the couch and on the coffee table. Caleb kept calling it a tunnel and would crawl through it. We kept calling it a fort. Caleb then grabbed all the pillows and laid them on the floor. Then he said let's make a spoon.
Huh? I heard him but it didn't really register. After he kept referring to the pillows as a spoon. I said to Jamie, "Maybe he thinks we're saying let's build a fork and so he's saying let's build a spoon?"
Silly guy!
