So I took a baby sign language class a little while ago and learned a bunch of signs but the ones I am most consistent with are 'milk', 'more', and 'eat/food'. I'd like to believe that Caleb is able to sign 'milk' and 'more' but you be judge...
On a different note... Caleb *LOVED* the salmon I gave him for dinner. He is a messy eater (he is his father's son after all!) but hopefully he'll learn to be neater. By dinnertime I don't care how messy he gets since bath time is immediately after dinner.

new doorknob?
Earlier this month I realized Caleb grew taller. I found this out when I was in his closet putting stuff away. Usually he bangs on the door waiting for me to come out. That time he got on his tippy toes, reached the door handle and opened the door. He was so happy and proud of himself too that I couldn't help but smile and think it was cute.
In the video we were in the playroom and he was more interested in what was going on outside.

Caught in the action!
For the past few weeks, Caleb has been able to stand on his own and has taken a few steps here and there. He's doing it more and more often the past few days but he definitely gets around faster crawling.
His actual first steps were a couple of weeks ago but today I was able to catch a couple of steps on camera. It's not the most graceful and he looks like he gets up and trips over himself but it's hard to get this stuff on camera when he doesn't do it consistently.

Caleb's Birthday Party
Today was Caleb's First Birthday Party... I had a blast seeing friends and family and watching all the kids play and run around our backyard. Caleb was such the party animal that he didn't take an afternoon nap (despite our best efforts) and passed out at 6pm.
I know Caleb won't remember his first birthday party but he only turns one once.

First Birthday Eve
For the past week or so I've been in such a nostalgic state of mind. Around this time last year I was anxiously waiting the arrival of Caleb. A random list of my thoughts on the eve of Caleb's first birthday.

Today was spent remembering random things about being pregnant, going through labor, and FINALLY meeting my son. Today I spent hugging and kissing Caleb a little more than usual. I can't wait for tomorrow!
- June 30th (my due date) had come and gone. I was a bit bummed that he was going to be late.
- Jamie was worried that Caleb would be born on HIS birthday.
- Jamie thought it would be cool to have him on the 4th of July because then he would always have fireworks on his birthday.
- Going through two non-stress tests to check if Caleb was doing okay in my belly.
- On my due date the doctor suggested I schedule an induction date which made me start to cry. A little part of me didn't want to choose his birthday.
- There was the Chinese fortune cookies that predicted Caleb would come out next Tuesday and it came true.
- July 7th last year my water broke in the morning and we checked in the hospital.
- Kissing Caleb for the first time and wishing him a "Happy Birthday"
