21 months going on 5

My baby Lucas... He just wants to be a big kid already. He copies big brother a lot and whatever Caleb is doing, Lucas wants to do too. His vocabulary is increasing as well as 2 or 3 word sentences. His main sentence being "[I] want this one" where 'this one' is some type of food item. He is an excellent sleeper sometimes taking 2 hour naps and 11 to 12 hours at night. He also goes down for bed without a fight (let's hope this never changes) and wakes up talking to himself.

His favorite book is still "The Very Busy Spider" but I think he also likes "Where the Wild Things Are". He loves to sing with his favorites being "Me, You, and We" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider"

He has a bit of a stubborn side or maybe it's just the early stages of the terrible 2's. He HATES putting on a jacket and fights me every time. I told Jamie that we should video tape him being so defiant in case he has a kid who is just like that we can say "payback time".

He is getting really good at climbing playground structures. He wants to sit in the big kid swing after sitting in the baby swing.

He knows when he has pooped. Sometimes he'll grab a diaper and hand it to me while saying "poo poo". He likes to sit on the toilet but nothing happens. I really hope this is a good indication that potty training will be fast and easy. In the video he says, "cheese!" (he thought I was taking a picture), "poo poo potty", "all done", and "up Mommy". There was nothing in the toilet. He just likes to pretend and sometimes he even grabs toilet paper. Haha!

He now has 14 teeth and is still a really good eater. He will try just about anything but if he doesn't like it he will spit it out. He really loves sucking up these pureed foods in a pouch. It has vegetables in it so I don't mind but sometimes he drinks 3 a day and those things aren't cheap! He is also pretty good at sucking up yogurt tubes (aka Go-gurts) and would have orange or apple juice instead of milk if I let him. He also just learned how to peel a Cutie orange.

He is a fun fearless little boy that we need to keep our eye on or else he will run off and get into mischief. I love this little guy!

3.5 year old Caleb

Caleb is officially 3.5 years old. And in the picture I took of him he looks like such a kid. Far from being a baby and even far from a toddler. He has likes, dislikes, and opinions. He asks us "How was your day?" He randomly will tell me that he loves me. He has a very sensitive side. When I am  frustrated he will stop me and say "Mommy, I want to see you smile." When this happens it really makes me stop and realize that whatever I am frustrated with at the time is likely not that big of a deal. He still loves trains and can build different configurations with his train tracks. He is protective and loves his little brother. I love seeing him kiss Lucas good night. Our nightly ritual of lying down in bed has turned into a snuggle session. Everything in the past happened "last night" and everything in the future is "tomorrow." He is beginning to protest taking a nap in the afternoon and we're trying to transition to "quiet time" in his room. I recently got one of those babycenter articles "Your 3 year old" and this particular article was about "Facing Fears" and how bedtime fears can begin. Last week Caleb started asking me to leave the door open when he sleeps.

He is such a sweetheart and growing up to be sensitive and caring. He doesn't jump into new things right away but with fearless Lucas around he is coming out of his shell a little more. I told him that he was 3.5 and he knew that on his next birthday he will be 4 like [his cousin] Ally and he'll be able to go on the horse ride at LEGOLAND. I love my [not so] little boy!
