| Rockin the 4th and Dad's lil firecracker |
For 4th of July we decided to make a quick trip to LA so we can attend the 4th of July festivities at Jamie's dad's country club. We were told it was a great event for the whole family and it did not disappoint (with one exception). There was a big giant inflatable slide that the boys went on several times before getting caught. The slide was part of an obstacle course and there was a line of kids racing each other. Oops! There was a petting zoo, train ride, balloon artist and face painter. Caleb got a balloon turtle while Lucas got a balloon sword. Five minutes later he fell and it popped so Jamie had to go back and get a second one. Caleb also got a dolphin painted on his hand. The one disappointment was no pony rides. In the past they have had pony rides and so when we told him there were going to be ponies he agreed to going on one. We were misinformed and he was really disappointed. The club had a huge traditional 4th of July BBQ, a big dessert spread, and other treats like candy, ice cream, cotton candy and popcorn. Just before 9pm we gathered on the lawn (I think we were actually on the 1st tee) and sat down on blankets to enjoy the fireworks. This was the first year we had the boys stay up late to see fireworks on the 4th of July. Even though Caleb covered his ears throughout the whole thing both boys enjoyed the show.
